DCRWD: Working Behind the Scenes to Keep Our Wastewater System Strong

May was a particularly rainy month for our area, bringing approximately 5.6 inches of rainfall. In years past, weather conditions like these could have placed significant stress on our wastewater system and increased the risk of overflow events. This year, however, the outcome tells a different story.
Despite the substantial rainfall received throughout the month, the Delaware County Regional Wastewater District (DCRWD) is pleased to report that no overflow events occurred. While some areas experienced high water conditions, our system continued to perform as designed, helping protect public health and the environment during periods of heavy rain.
This success is not the result of a single project or improvement. Rather, it reflects years of ongoing investment in infrastructure upgrades, routine maintenance, and system improvements. By proactively addressing areas of concern and continuously working to strengthen our wastewater system, DCRWD has improved its ability to manage increased flows during wet weather events.

Combined with larger infrastructure upgrades completed over the years, these efforts have significantly improved system performance and resilience.
