The Delaware County Regional Wastewater District is gearing up for a project set to begin on Friday, March 1, 2024. The Overlook Drive Project in Daleville, Indiana is slated to bring significant improvements to the area's wastewater infrastructure, ensuring a more efficient and reliable system for years to come.
The project, expected to span approximately three months, will involve crucial construction aimed at enhancing the wastewater facilities in the region. While these developments are undoubtedly beneficial, we do anticipate some disruptions during the construction phase, including road closures and delays. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to enhance the infrastructure in the community.
One of the primary objectives of the project is to install grinder pump stations at eleven homes along Overlook Drive. These pump stations play a vital role in efficiently transferring wastewater from individual residences to the main sewer lines, ensuring proper disposal, and preventing potential environmental hazards.
To accommodate the increased demand and improve the overall efficiency of the wastewater system, the project includes the installation of 1,100 feet of 2" force main and 300 feet of 3" force main. These force mains serve as critical conduits for transporting wastewater under pressure to the treatment facilities, thereby facilitating smooth and uninterrupted flow throughout the system.
In addition to expanding the force mains, the project will involve connecting the newly installed infrastructure to the existing gravity sewer collection system. This integration ensures seamless operation and allows for the efficient conveyance of wastewater from various sources to the treatment plant for processing.
Beyond the installation of grinder pump stations and expansion of force mains, the project encompasses a range of additional tasks essential for its successful completion. This includes the installation of 300 feet of 6" gravity laterals, 1,400 feet of 1-¼" discharge service lines, as well as associated electrical work. Furthermore, the project will involve the demolition of existing septic tanks, paving the way for a more modern and sustainable wastewater management system.
Throughout the duration of the project, our team is committed to minimizing disruptions to the surrounding community as much as possible. Upon completion of the construction activities, we will undertake comprehensive restoration efforts to ensure that any disturbances to roads or landscaping are promptly addressed, leaving the area in a condition that meets or exceeds pre-construction standards.
As we embark on this important endeavor, we extend our sincere gratitude to the residents of Daleville for their cooperation and understanding. While the construction phase may present challenges, the long-term benefits of a robust and reliable wastewater infrastructure far outweigh the temporary inconveniences.
