Delaware County Regional Wastewater District has adopted a new Lien Ordinance to help ensure the continued operation and maintenance of the wastewater system that serves our community.
This ordinance allows the District to place a lien on properties with long-delinquent wastewater bills, in accordance with Indiana law. The goal is not punitive, but rather to provide a fair and consistent process for addressing unpaid accounts while protecting the financial stability of the wastewater system for all customers.
What This Means for Customers
Customers are encouraged to remain current on wastewater payments.
Accounts that become significantly past due may be subject to lien placement.
Property owners will receive notice and have opportunities to resolve outstanding balances before further action is taken.
The District understands that financial hardships can occur and encourages customers experiencing difficulty making payments to contact the office as soon as possible. Payment options or arrangements may be available.
